Hi, it's been a while but I wanted to share something with you.
Two things happened to me tonight..
Firstly, I found this quote -
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Marianne Williamson.
Not a new by any means, but new to me. It hit me so hard, I felt like it had been written for me. I haven’t had that before so it was enlightening and a little odd.
The second thing was - that as I was floating through IG I came across someone’s work, I clicked on that and drifted off elsewhere (Like you do with Instgram) 3 pages later and I ended up on a website of someone I know. A gorgeous website in fact. So, I had a mooch around appreciating the work and then began reading my own words. Surely this hadn’t been written for me too?! No. Sadly it hadn’t, but it had been written BY ME!
The more I looked the more I found. I must say it really is a weird experience reading your own words on someone else’s website.
I felt a bit odd. A bit sick actually. I wrote those words. I sat up 'till all hours trying to get the website finished and then someone came along and casually stole those words.
So yeah, I felt a bit cross. But then I had a think about it and chatted to my loves and I realised something. Being genuine wins. That person knows what they’ve done.
I wrote it and they loved my thoughts so much they took them for their own. Well, good on ya. I hope you feel proud.
I looked back at the quote and I thought, (in a slightly annoying ‘Pooh Bear ‘ kinda way) No one is going to be as good at being me than me, so I’m just going to carry on doing that. I’m not going to strive for a better me, I’m going to relax and let the ‘real’ me out. I’m not going to write you a catty email or even make you aware. Because you already know, and actually I’m far too busy getting on with my own life and being proud of what I've actually achieved.
So thank you. You know who you are – You have inspired me in a way that I never knew you would
On a side note – Although I struggle to swallow the ‘You should be flattered’ feeling. If I was looking for inspiration for my website, I’d be going to the TOP. The greats, The heads of my industry and beyond. So thanks again for that little ego boost (Not that I’d like anyone else to do it, plus remember folkes - it’s illegal!)
